Established in 2011, URJA is a nonprofit organization based in New Delhi, India that provides free legal aid, vocational training, and counseling for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. It also builds schools for the children of these women. The mission of URJA is to empower, educate, and enable marginalized women and children and to advance their status by advocating for their educational, economic, social and legal rights.
With a series of benefit shows set to take place featuring artistes from Delhi, Bombay, and Bangalore, the first installment will take place at Auro in New Delhi on November 10 in collaboration with local collective Coven Code. Moreover, URJA will be also tying up with Oddbird and Wild City for future events. The Coven Code x URJA Fundraiser will start with a legal aid workshop for women led by Anjali Pathak, a lawyer and founder of URJA, followed by live performances by musicians from the steadily rising collective.
