Ayush – Annihilate [EP]

Ayush. Annihilate EP

New Delhi-based producer Ayush might be an unfamiliar name to many, but the young talent has been making music since 2013, and has come a long way, having also tried his hand at different styles of music under other monikers namely Fourth Note and The Lost Envelope. For his latest 5-track EP, Ayush weaves a masterpiece on his sonic canvas. Titled ‘Annihilate‘, the surreal new effort is a vivid expression of this Jwala member’s creative genius.

Kicking off the proceedings with ‘Dawn‘, a minimal approach from Ayush led by soft synth melodies and a fitting percussion work introduces listeners into a zone of calm and serenity. But don’t let that fool you as there’s truly more than what meets the eye. ‘Rue.‘ brings about a sense of despair before letting a ray of hope fall through the cracks. While showcasing his own take on ‘future garage‘, it consequently gives way to his popular track ‘Fade Away‘. Having already garnered more than 37,000 plays on this one alone, the stellar ambient piece is poised to hit you right in the feels, or might even make you contemplate your existence.

One of the finest out of the lot, ‘Chasm‘ up next, begins with a stunning piano solo before treating listeners to an engrossing narrative driven by his supreme production work which leads right up to an explosive climax. As Ayush begins to sign off with ‘Blank‘, a bittersweet feeling lurks in the background which brings up the question, “what happens next?“.

A well executed body of work which might just need a sequel, listen to the EP in full below.
