One of the most successful electronic music labels to come out of the Indian sub-continent, New Delhi-based imprint Qilla Records continues to showcase their cutting edge brand of electronic music with its steady output of releases and artist showcases. Following a successful start to 2019 with the unveiling of label boss Kohra’s chart-topping ‘Acid Kidz‘ EP, their latest release arrives in the form of ‘Forte, Vol.6‘. Having garnered a cult-like following of its own, their long-running compilation series continues to put the spotlight on some of the most forward-thinking acts to come out of the dystopian lands of left-field electronica. And on its latest installment, listeners are made to delve into a whole new realm with four scintillating offerings courtesy Flex Machina, MERO, Vridian and mantris.
Led by the sounds of Mumbai-based duo Flex Machina who craft euphoria on their blissful ambient effort ‘Emergence‘, Shillong-bred producer MERO takes over the proceedings with ‘Crossing‘ as his intricately crafted soundscapes and progressive storytelling gently sweep across the dancefloor. Next comes one of New Delhi’s fastest rising producer, Vridian who offers a gritty and fine example of ‘Coming Of Age‘ with his latest piece as obscure, yet hypnotic sounds drive forward this remarkable cut. And lastly, ‘Eruptions‘ sees mantris rev up the pace for the project’s final offering as he plays with gnarled textures and sleek futuristic tones to create a worthy finale full of darkness and drama.
