Bomb Bay might be a new name to many of you, but the man behind the alias is none other than Mumbai-based producer/DJ Anurag Sen. Having played all around the country under his Thermal Projekt moniker previously, the rising act has now served up his debut album as Bomb Bay. An ambitious 10-track project which treats listeners to the sounds of bass, house, psytrance and everything in between, all while putting his Indian roots under the spotlight, the genre hopping LP sounds like a promising debut from the emerging talent.
A steady paced effort that is ought to appeal to many, Anurag kicks things off with ‘Avatar‘ which explores multiple sub genres within the house music territory alongside other tracks like ‘Let’s Bounce‘ and ‘Tarana‘. Most notably, Bomb Bay recently hit #1 on the Best New Future House Charts on Beatport in September with his standout work ‘Tillana‘. Taking things up a notch, he goes into overdrive with ‘Shiva Trance‘ and ‘Ganesha Trance‘, which prove to be a solid showcase of his psytrance-focused works.
As we enter the final stretch of Nritya Shastra, ‘Mantra‘ hits us out of nowhere with its raucous, dubstep-influenced sounds, only to be followed up by ‘Trap Da Punjab‘. A high octane and extremely unique piece of work that is poised to strike a chord with listeners around the country, the LP ultimately comes to a close on a lackluster note.
