In December of last year, gurus of the Electronic music fraternity came together at Sydney, Australia to talk about what keeps the EDM world ticking at the Electronic Music Conference 2013. While the conference discussed many talking points and raised issues about the growth and direction that Electronic music was taking, we also had the opportunity to get under the skin of artists and learn about their journey to becoming electronic musicians. The folks at EMC 2013 have uploaded one such video, which uncovers the journey of American Dance music sensation Krewella. Jahan Yousaf, Yasmine Yousaf and Rain Man spoke about their story from obscurity to one of the most prolific acts behind the decks as veteran Tommie Sunshine played modulator on a session that gives us a deeper understanding of the life of an EDM artist.
Alongside manager Jake Udell of TH3RD BRAIN, the very talented trio covered a wide array of topics in their talk, ranging from Rain Man’s first ever guitar to the magical moment that resulted in the formation of the group. Panelists and audience members dived deep into the analogy of the rise and fame of the Vocal hit makers that is Krewella, as they discussed the various trials and tribulations the trio encountered along the way. In an industry that is so quickly seeing a shifting of trends and popular tastes, this interview is a fascinating Case study and gives us a better understanding of what an artist goes through in a process of music making, the challenges they face in the studio and the criticism they endure, only to still remain resurgent in their quest to be able to give justice to their artistic vision.
