Paris Hilton Defends Her DJ Career In Interview With V Magazine

PARIS HILTON at the Paris Hilton's Official Party and DJ Set

Ever since Paris Hilton decided to become a professional DJ, fans, artists and purists cried foul and an insurmountable internet rage has followed ever since with endless trolls and memes regarding the topic. But love it or hate it, Paris Hilton is doing everything in her capacity to earn a name as a Woman who knows her crafts behind the decks. Besides a coy remark to the paparazzi’s where she called herself one of the top 5 DJ’s in the world, Paris has been genuinely hard at work with a residency in the iconic Amnesia club in Ibiza,Harrah’s Resort and Casino in Atlantic City and performing for Hollywood A-listers such as James Cameron‘s Hollywood party.

In a tête-à-tête with fashion website V Magazine, Paris opens up about the constant criticism she faces from Dance music purists. She goes on to defend her decision to become a DJ by giving a heartfelt justification.

There are always going to be haters in life. I don’t pay attention to those people. I’m doing what I love and selling out shows all around the world, and I’m getting paid a lot of money to do it. I’m passionate and I work hard to keep bettering my music, my sets, and myself. That’s what really matters.

When asked how she handles herself with such a hectic life as a DJ, considering she’d been earlier known for her infamous “celebrity breakdowns”.  She insisted that she loves to immerse herself in her projects and see them from conception to fruition.

I work hard and have so much to be responsible for—my music, my brands, and 45 retail stores, to name a few of my projects. I take every project very seriously and am proud of my work. I’m so happy in my daily life that a breakdown would not be possible. If you spend time focusing on creative ways to improve yourself and your work, I think it keeps you going in the right direction. It also helps to have such a loving and supportive family.

She also spoke about the various venues and tours she had been upon, further uprooting any doubt about the seriousness about her passion for DJing.

I just did a great show at the Cavalli Club in Dubai, and I’ve had performances in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Italy, Bulgaria, L.A., Las Vegas, Moscow, Siberia, and more. One of my favorite experiences was performing in Macau for the Red Cross benefit for relief efforts in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan. When I heard about it, I immediately got on a flight to Macau to help support the cause.

Naming Steve Aoki and Danny Avila amongst her inspirations, she also talked about her future plans and how she is excited about getting into music production and also hinted at the prospects of an artist album along the way! In an age when learning how to DJ and being a performer can be considered two different things, Paris Hilton certainly brings plenty of oomph factor into the industry. However, despite her defense and clarifications, she may have to show more consistency and plenty of good form to win some fans and garner the trust of Dance music purists. For now, we wish her luck in her journey and success in all her ventures & projects!
