Ciri Actress Relied On The Books More Than Ever In The Witcher Season 4

A New Era for ‘The Witcher’ Series

The fourth season of ‘The Witcher’ marks a significant transition for the show, notably with Liam Hemsworth stepping into the boots of Geralt of Rivia, taking over from Henry Cavill. This season is crucial for the character of Ciri, portrayed by Freya Allan, as it brings to life the events from Andrzej Sapkowski’s third novel in the Witcher series, ‘Baptism of Fire.’ Allan has thoroughly prepared for her role this season.

In a discussion with GamesRadar, Allan shared that she revisited the novels to immerse herself fully in Ciri’s complex narrative arcs that unfold in the upcoming seasons. “As we move into Seasons 4 and 5, I am bringing to life some of my most cherished storylines for Ciri,” Allan remarked. “These parts of her story are not only pivotal but also highly anticipated by fans. They are truly iconic moments for Ciri in the novels. I found myself relying heavily on the original texts more than ever. It was vital for me to stay true to them, keeping the fans in mind throughout, ensuring I had grasped every detail of Ciri’s journey as depicted in the books.”

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the showrunner for ‘The Witcher,’ noted that Allan often came to her with the book in hand to discuss how to best approach certain scenes, though Hissrich did not specify which scenes were discussed.

Liam Hemsworth, who is the new face of Geralt, has expressed his enthusiasm about joining the series, being a fan of ‘The Witcher’ prior to his casting. He is joined by several new actors in Season 4, including Laurence Fishburne, who will portray Regis, a barber-surgeon with a secretive past. Other new additions include Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy, Danny Woodburn, Linden Porco, Eve Ridley, and Clive Russell.

‘The Witcher’ Season 4 is set to premiere on Netflix on October 30. The series will conclude with Season 5, which is yet to have a scheduled release date.
