First introduced in 2012, Clash of Clans has become one of the most celebrated and enduring mobile games. The game involves players constructing and defending their own villages. It has spawned several related games, such as Clash Royale, which, alongside the original, continues to be extremely popular, remaining among the top 35 most downloaded free games on iOS.

Supercell, renowned for its innovative marketing tactics, had previously enlisted Liam Neeson for a Super Bowl advert to promote Clash of Clans. The company itself gained significant attention when it was acquired by Tencent in 2016 for a staggering $8.6 billion, making it the third-largest video game acquisition ever, only surpassed by Take-Two's acquisition of Zynga for $12.7 billion and Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $75.4 billion.

In addition to the Clash of Clans series, Netflix is expanding its portfolio of video game-related content. This includes developing a movie and a series based on Gears of War, as well as a series on Assassin's Creed.
Amidst these developments, there is a growing interest in video game adaptations, with numerous projects based on various games currently in the pipeline. The question remains, however, how many of these proposed adaptations will actually be realized.
