A New Chapter for Devil May Cry on Netflix
Recently, Netflix launched the debut season of “Devil May Cry,” a series adapted from Capcom’s popular video game franchise. A mere week following its release, Netflix confirmed the renewal of the show, greenlighting a second season for “Devil May Cry.”
In their renewal announcement, Netflix revealed impressive viewership numbers, noting that the show garnered 5.3 million views within the initial three days of release. It also claimed the fourth spot on Netflix’s global top 10 series chart. Additionally, the series earned high praise from critics, securing a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Celebrated Voices Bring Characters to Life
The series features Johnny Yong Bosch, known for his role in “Power Rangers,” as the voice of the protagonist Dante, a formidable hybrid of human and demon who hunts other demons. Bosch is no stranger to the franchise, having previously lent his voice to the character Nero in the “Devil May Cry” video games.
Joining Bosch, Scout Taylor-Compton voices Mary Ann Arkham/Lady, and Hoon Lee brings to life the character of the White Rabbit. Chris Coppola and the late Kevin Conroy, renowned for his three-decade stint as the voice of Batman, are also part of the cast. Conroy, who voiced Vice President William Baines, had recorded most of his lines before his passing in 2022. Ian James Corlett was brought in to voice Baines in the remaining scenes initially intended for Conroy.
Insight into the Acclaimed Sixth Episode
Adi Shankar, the showrunner for “Devil May Cry,” shared insights with GameSpot about the unique construction of the season’s sixth episode. This episode, which features minimal dialogue, delves into the backgrounds of Lady and the White Rabbit, standing out as one of the season’s most significant episodes.
Anticipating Season 2’s Arrival
While Netflix has not yet set a release date for “Devil May Cry” Season 2, the pattern of release for Netflix’s original animated series suggests a potential wait of two to three years between seasons. If this holds true for “Devil May Cry,” fans might expect the new season to premiere around 2027 or 2028.
