James Gunn Debunks Robin’s Inclusion in “The Batman Part II”
James Gunn has recently addressed the swirling rumors that Robin would be featured in the upcoming “The Batman Part II.” Amidst widespread speculation by fans online, Gunn made a clarifying post on Threads last Friday. He emphasized that only a select few individuals within DC have had access to the script for “The Batman Part II,” dismissing any external claims as baseless.
In his post, Gunn appealed to fans, saying, “Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about ‘The Batman 2.'”

This instance marks not the first attempt by Gunn, who has also directed “Superman,” to dispel unfounded rumors concerning his projects. Earlier on Monday, he had already taken to Threads to state, “Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people.”
Warner Bros. Discovery recently informed its shareholders through a letter issued on Thursday, that production for “The Batman Part II” is slated to commence in the spring of 2026, with an anticipated release in October 2027. The announcement also highlighted several other forthcoming DC endeavors, including “Clayface,” “Supergirl,” and “Wonder Woman.”
The shareholder letter detailed, “In film, James Gunn is diligently working on the forthcoming chapters of the DC super family, which includes ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ (2026), ‘Clayface’ (2026), and the next ‘Wonder Woman.’ Additionally, ‘The Batman II’ (2027) is gearing up to start filming next spring, alongside numerous other projects in the pipeline. The 10-year vision for the DC universe also encompasses a thrilling range of television projects like ‘The Penguin,’ the new season of ‘Peacemaker,’ and the premiere of ‘Lanterns’ in 2026. In a strategic and deliberate manner, the DC franchise will increasingly integrate across the studio’s extensive efforts: spanning film, television, consumer products, gaming, experiences, and social platforms.”
