Fortnite OG Season 3 Debuts with Nostalgic Elements and New Crossovers
The much-anticipated Fortnite OG Season 3 has officially launched today, bringing with it exciting elements from The Walking Dead, including the notorious baseball bat owned by Negan.
With the start of Chapter 1 Season 3, players will witness the return of the Lucky Landing Point of Interest (POI) along with a menacing meteor on a direct collision path, as reported by Epic Games. Additionally, the nostalgic 50v50 Limited Time Mode (LTM) is making a comeback, revamped as OG 50v50.
In the OG 50v50 mode, two teams comprising of 50 players each will compete against one another. This special mode will continue until 9am ET on April 14. Long-time Fortnite fans will recall that 50v50 was the first LTM introduced in Fortnite Battle Royale back in 2017.
As the season progresses, a meteor will make its appearance in the sky, gradually moving closer with time. This event is expected to stir fond memories among players who experienced the early days of Fortnite’s battle royale phenomenon.
Creators are given the opportunity to start new projects utilizing templates from The Walking Dead Universe, gaining access to distinctive weapons, prefabs, galleries, and Walker NPCs from the series. Starting May 16, developers will have the chance to publish their Walking Dead-themed islands via the Creator Portal, making them accessible for gameplay.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Working with Fortnite presents an amazing opportunity to explore new directions for The Walking Dead. From Lucille battling through swarms to the chilling presence of Walkers, I am eager to see the innovative creations the Fortnite community will come up with.”
Overview of The Walking Dead Content Available to Fortnite Creators
- Walker NPC – These slow, simple-minded enemies form hordes driven by their basic instinct to devour humans.
- Weapons and Items – Creators can equip the Shiva Shotgun Ranged Weapon, an enhanced pump shotgun that also emits a tiger roar from Shiva; or wield the Lucille Melee Weapon, Negan’s infamous wire-wrapped baseball bat, ideal for combating both Walkers and other survivors.
- Effects – Enhance your island with a new heavy linework post-processing effect. This shader adjusts the visual mood and style of an island to mirror the aesthetic of The Walking Dead comics.
