The final season of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ is set for release.

During their presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 in Hall H, the team behind the latest ‘The Walking Dead’ series announced that Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, portraying Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier respectively, are not done just yet. They confirmed the show would return for an eight-episode final season, with production kicking off this month.

The production team, along with Reedus and McBride, will be filming across various locations in Spain including Madrid, Bilbao, Galicia, Andalucía, Segovia, Toledo, and the Community of Madrid. This announcement comes just before the third season of the series is expected to premiere on September 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET on AMC and its streaming service AMC+. A fresh trailer for the upcoming episodes was also released during the Comic-Con panel.

“This journey with Daryl Dixon has been phenomenal,” Reedus expressed. “I’m deeply thankful for every fan who has been with us through this ride. It’s been an honor to develop these characters’ stories, and we’re profoundly grateful for the overwhelming reception. The finale is more than just a conclusion; it’s a celebration of our shared experiences. Let’s continue to share this love – Daryl’s story is still unfolding.”

The official synopsis for season three of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ suggests that the characters will keep moving towards their “home and loved ones.” The show has proven to be a hit on AMC, with its debut season becoming the most-viewed on the network’s streaming platform AMC+ in its five-year history.

“Filming this chapter of Daryl and Carol’s journey in Europe has been the adventure of a lifetime, and I’m eager for more,” McBride stated. “There’s still plenty of story to cover, and I’m thrilled for what’s in store for our fans. I am looking forward to savoring every moment and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working on in these amazing locations.”

Continuing the Ride

While the specifics of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Season 4 are under wraps, AMC has other exciting projects to keep the audience engaged. The new season is set to premiere on September 14 at 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET, immediately following the second episode of Season 3 of ‘Daryl Dixon.’

Nicotero also used the Comic-Con platform to unveil his new horror competition show, ‘Guts and Glory,’ which is set to have a two-episode premiere on Shudder and AMC+ in the U.S. and Canada starting September 9.
