Battlefield 6 XP Farming via Portal Lobbies Explodes as Players Complain of Sluggish Progression System

In less than a week after its release, players of Battlefield 6 have started to establish Portal lobbies specifically for XP farming, and there are indications that EA might already be aware of this trend.

The community quickly pointed out that the progression mechanics in the latest FPS game seem overly tedious. Although many players are satisfied with the overall experience offered by Battlefield Studios, there is a consensus that the process of leveling up is too slow. The system for unlocking weapons and the challenging nature of the tasks further diminish the enjoyment for many players.

“Do they really think players have that much time and energy to grind endlessly just to get the rewards we’re supposed to earn naturally?” one player asked in a Reddit post. “It’s exhausting.”

Shortly after the game’s release, many players feel overwhelmed by the excessive grind required, a sentiment especially strong among casual gamers. However, the Portal mode, initially introduced in Battlefield 2042 back in 2021, offers a solution. This mode lets players design almost any conceivable game type or mode. Importantly, with the right setup, Portal can be used to gain experience points as if playing in a standard multiplayer match. Consequently, XP farming lobbies began appearing within days.

Influential content creators like Arekkz Gaming, TheCadWoman, and WhosImmortal are just a few who have been promoting specific Portal lobbies for rapid leveling. These lobbies, often filled with bots, mimic the conditions of typical Battlefield 6 modes closely enough to maintain standard XP rates. Players are sometimes encouraged to use double XP tokens, if available, and focus on eliminating AI or bot adversaries near objectives to maximize their XP gains efficiently.

The eagerness to bypass slow progression systems isn’t new to Battlefield 6, resulting in Portal’s XP farm servers quickly filling up with eager players. There’s speculation that EA is responding rapidly as well.

As more XP farming lobbies appear in the Portal community browser, players are increasingly encountering a “Global Game Quota Exceeded” error message, which comes with little explanation. This has led some to suspect that EA and Battlefield Studios are starting to take action against these exploitative practices.

The error message has certainly hindered some players from continuing their XP farming efforts, though it’s not clear if this is an intentional strategy to curb the practice. Some Portal players are receiving this message regardless of their intentions with lobby hosting, and others have faced difficulties in setting up servers at all, suggesting that Battlefield 6 Portal servers might be under strain from high player traffic following the game’s launch. No official statements from EA or Battlefield Studios have been made regarding these issues.

It remains uncertain why the “Global Game Quota Exceeded” error appears, but the surge in XP farming activities could be contributing to the issue. The widespread dissatisfaction with Battlefield 6’s progression system has resulted in a flood of players seeking faster ways to unlock game content. Some dedicated Portal lobby creators think that the high number of individual lobbies might be exacerbating the situation.

There must be a reason for the “Global game quota exceeded” error…

Battlefield 6 launched on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, and quickly became the most successful Steam launch in the history of the EA franchise, attracting over 740,000 concurrent players.

As we await further developments on how EA and BF Studios might address the XP farming and progression issues in Battlefield 6, it’s interesting to see how some players have used the Portal to recreate famous game maps like Call of Duty’s Shipment. Additionally, reports are circulating about how support players are struggling to keep up with the demands of their teammates.
