It is a sad day for music fans around the world. The lead singer of legendary Irish rock band The Cranberries, Dolores O’Riordan has passed away. Aged 46, the renowned female singer/songwriter had been a part of the iconic outfit since the early 1990s after she joined brothers Noel and Mike Hogan and drummer Fergal Lawler. Known for their seminal hits including ‘Zombie‘, ‘Linger‘, ‘Dreams‘ amongst several others, Dolores was found dead in a Park Lane hotel in London yesterday. Her publicist said in a statement:
“The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time.”
While the cause of her death is not yet known, you can read the band’s message below. Our thoughts go out to Dolores’ family and friends.
We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today.
