With a smashing single emerging almost every week from his arsenal in the month leading up to his highly awaited album, While (1<2), Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 recently spoke with BBC Radio 1 superstar, Zane Lowe in an extremely engaging interview and also dropped yet another track for your streaming pleasure.
As part of his entertaining yet enriching fifteen minute chat, the mau5 went into details about his soon to be released, highly anticipated project. Going on to touching on the double-disc theory of moving from a compilation to a cohesive album packing in diverse sounds, the iconic producer then moved ahead to further speak about the fact that his project is likely to distance himself from his image as a DJ.
Whilst speaking about the state of contemporary dance music, he also went on to talk about plans of his upcoming colossal 360 degree stadium tour which interestingly has already been in the making for two years and said that the focus is going to lie on state of the art production and not EDM, but general production, and that it will be a bigger show which can be likened to arena-filling rock bands like Bon Jovi have been known to deliver in the past.
The double disc album, which is set to be released on June 17th, will offer a variety of styles that aim to as Zimmerman states, “remove some of the stigma of being ‘the guy that plays the dance music, but also provide longtime fans with the enchanting music that they love” and describes the supporting tour as “a doozy” and bigger than a Bon Jovi concert.
To take things a notch higher, Deadmau5 divulged by stating, “We’ve been working with some really top production companies that aren’t the top production companies in EDM; they’re the top production companies. They’re coming back to me and saying, ‘Dude, you have the biggest balls’“.
