We’re all aware of the thriving music scene in India, be it electronic music, pop, rock, jazz amongst others, and have been involved in some capacity or the other. But how did it all start?
Red Bull, supported by OML, are bringing you ‘Standing By’, a six part documentary series, which will delve deeper into the origins of the music scene we have in India currently, featuring interviews of about a 100 people, including luminaries such as Usha Uthup, Louis Banks and Carlton Kitto, as well as current day pioneers such as Vishal Dadlani, Nikhil Chinapa, Rahul Ram, Monica Dogra, Nucleya, Dualist Inquiry and many more.

The first episode of Standing By focuses on the initiation of the jazz scene in India, its growth and subsequent seepage into Bollywood, to the rise of the beat groups in the 60’s and 70’s, with interviews from the likes of Naresh Fernanded, Louis Banks, Usha Uthup, Carlton Kitto, and features great insight into the scene back then, with some rare archival footage.
Coming in the form of an informative gem to all those of you whose curiosity towards the history of the burgeoning music scene of the country has never been quite satiated, we wold recommend you to watch this series, starting from episode 1 right below.
