Deadmau5 accuses Wildstylez of ripping off the melody of ‘Some Chords’

Even though they make headlines whenever they occur, plagiarism and copyright infringement debacles continue to shake the dance music industry on a regular basis. In the most recent instance of such fiascos, Joram Metekohy aka Wildstylez has been accused by globally acclaimed DJ/producer, Deadmau5 of having stolen the melody from his vastly popular track, “Some Chords”.

Referring to Wildstylez’s recently released track, “Straightforward”, Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 established that the track copies all of the chords from the melody of “Some Chords” and upon listening to the track the resemblance seems rather apparent. In fact, only just hidden beneath the unrelenting hardstyle kick lies a nearly identical chord progression to what the mau5 used in his smash hit.

The striking similarities between the two tracks seem undeniable and as you would expect, not one to take things lying down, Deadmau5 took to twitter to expose the theft, while also dubbing the track “the ripoff of the year”.

Check out both the two tracks now and be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

  1. I like how mau5 claims 5 random squarechords notes as HIS melody.
Nothing to expect from House producers btw, but that was lame.

  2. Sounds like Deadmau5 ripped it off in the first place so why is he complaining lol
