Leeds based producer Hot Since 82, has had the penchant for producing the most enigmatic deep house journeys through his singular production, remixes and DJ sets. His album ‘Little Black Book’ met with much deserved critical and commercial acclaim last year, and was regarded by many as one of the finest deep house artist albums ever. And now, Suara label has extended that deep house journey by having roster mates wAFF, Dosem & Fairmont get on remix duties for the second track on the album titled, ‘Planes & Trains‘.
While the original builds on some ethereal pad works, before a pulsating synth line combines with a thumping bass-line providing the perfect extreme of taking a melodic journey (much like travelling in a Plane or a Train), the remix duties by the respective artists lends creative new directions to the beautiful original.
wAFF‘s remix sounds like an extension of the original, with a little more tweaked filter and flangering synthwork revolving around echoing vocals. As the melody tip-toes around the breakdown, the reminiscent melodic overture comes crashing down combining with all the other layers. Fairmont‘s take on the track perhaps shifts from a deeper house feel into a more Progressive house soundscape. With a pinching synth chord hovering around some fantastic atmospherics and pad work, this remix lends a slightly darker tone and is designed for pure dance-floor bliss. Finally, the Dosem remix turns things on its head, with a visionary rework from his end! A higher BPM, more exciting vocal play and a resonating and reverberating bassline, all merge with the moody synthwork from the original to give a pumping new vision of this track, as the journey might as well takes a third new means of transport…your feet!
