On June 21st, Scarlett Ettiene, one of the hottest DJ’s in the industry, played at Blue Frog, Mumbai as part of a 3 city India tour which served as a build up for the upcoming Enchanted Valley Carnival to be held in Mumbai later in the year.
Hit past the break to know about all that went down as Scarlett Etienne descended at Blue Frog along with Rishab Joshi from Lost Stories and Anish Sood.
Scarlett Etienne is one of a rare breed – an inimitable talent and an artist that is impossible to pin down. Her musical credentials are self-evident: In-demand techno / electro producer, label owner, classically trained musician, lead singer of Scarlett and The Pixels, the list goes on.
Carried through by her inexhaustible passion and undeniable talents she can be found regularly touring far and wide, from Berlin to Hong Kong and just about everywhere in between. Her prodigious creative talent and flair doesn’t stop there either, with a sense of style that is almost as innate as her preternatural ability to work a dance floor. The self-professed fire-cracker in high heels’ finds herself similarly lauded in the fashion world as muse, tastemaker and style icon.

And that’s exactly the side we got to see as part of her set. Her set ranged from bouncy tech to funk to nu disco to acid house. Dishing out oodles of tech, minimal and funk goodness, she had the crowd grooving on the dancefloor with no signs of wanting to stop. Her marvellous set served us dollops of, thick & luscious basslines, hard yet heavy-on-groove beats and catchy riffs here and there.
From start to finish, you could tell, Ms Etienne enjoyed toying with the audience. She had a ball making them dance to the music she belted out, as she played one track after the other.

She kicked off proceedings with a chilled vibe with tracks like Duke Dumont’s Need U (100 %) and amped it up as she went along. She moved on to a little funk with tunes like Lose Yourself by Surkin feat. Ann Saunderson and then turned comparatively to the acidic side with Etienne de Crecy’s BeatCrush. Scarlett also treated us to a little bass-heavy with Stingray By A-Trak & Zinc.
Obviously no groovy dance set is complete without a little Disclosure, and Scarlett delivered with their collaboration with Aluna George, White Noise from their record breaking album, “Settle“.
After a really fun set, Scarlett gave way to two of the most infamous DJ’s to have arisen out of India. We’re talking about Lost Stories‘s Rishabh Joshi and the equally proficient, Anish Sood who played an enthralling Back2Back set together. Watching them perform on stage certainly got the audience pumped.
Rishab and Anish started their set off with a few brilliant mashup’s, following which they moved on to some of our favourite big room bangers. Towards the end, the two even went on to play a few enjoyable trap tunes which got everyone in the crowd including us, roaring with joy.
The duo’s focus was largely on heavy drops throughout their set; which is very common to a lot of commercial sets these days. Their set had simply one thing to convey to everyone present – ‘Have a great time and lose yourself on the dancefloor’.

Their set had everyone raging on the dancefloor at Blue Frog as they dished out banger after banger, ranging from hardstyle to electro house to big room. From Unmet Ozcan’s, Airport to TV Noise’s edit of Stellar by Daddy’s Groove the two definitely closed the night in style.
Those present were also treated to the Official Enchanted Valley Carnival Anthem produced by Rishabh Joshi. For more information on the festival, follow them on Facebook now!
