The supremely talented Andrew Bayer is the sort of producer, who makes us firmly believe that Electronic music is magic. It can transform any given moment in time and space into something extraordinary and ceremonious with the simple complexities of his music making abilities. After a stunning 2013, which saw his path breaking ‘If it were you We’d never leave’ album break every notion we’ve ever had of pure electronic music, Bayer spins off 2014 in style as he drops another big room anthem on his alma mater Anjunabeats.
Debuted first at his historic set at ABGT 050 at Alexandria Palace, London, ‘Once Lydian’ starts off with a typical Bayer-esque style of punching electro stabs, much like his recent “Perth” and “Mirth Mobile”, all before a euphoric melody comes ringing in. Named after the “Lydian”, one of the earliest musical scales on which music was curated, the melody builds behinds some ethereal pads and atmospherics, before a counter melody kicks in with the bass, creating a melange of sound layers making this yet another tasty mmmmmmmusical venture from the American Musicmaker
