Swedish House Mafia Unveil ‘Leave The World Behind’ by Lune.

Lune - Leave The World Behind starring Swedish House Mafia

We’ve been teased in numerous with bits and snippets of an upcoming project by Swedish House Mafia and Lune.  The only clues given to us were 11 second videos of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello in persona we’d never seen before. All appear to be in reflective states in their solitude, at different locales.   Enticing our curiosity even more, Sebastian Ingrosso tweeted a picture of himself starring straight into the face of a giant boar with “Leave The World Behind” plastered across the center.  Thus sparking numerous rumours of what could probably be a reunion announcement or a documentary about their lives.  The only hint given to us was a mysterious website, www.leavetheworldbehind.com. This had everyone marking their calendars and setting reminders for May 17th 2013 at 0830 CET.  Now that video has released.

To put curiosity to rest, it isn’t a reunion nor a documentary,  but a unique music video featuring a brand new version of their 2009 collaborative EDM hit with Laidback Luke & Deborah Cox. In addition to featuring Lune in the updated version, Volvo Cars will also have a starring role in the music video, as the automobile company uses “Leave the World Behind” as the theme for their upcoming advertising campaign for the new Volvo XC60.

The video does what Lune’s facebook page had been proclaiming over the last few days. It is “a haunting reinterpretation of Swedish House Mafia’s 2009 hit. Delivering the sound from the Balearic Isles to the Norwegian fjords is a feat Lune achieves perfectly.”

Since parting ways after ending with their extremely successful “One Last Tour” and giving their final performance at Ultra Music Festival back in March, the former members of Swedish House Mafia have finally been focusing on their “born-again” solo careers and are officially leaving SHM behind. This is signified by the new Volvo advertisement and their forthcoming music video for singer/songwriter Lune.

Lune  is a music project fronted by Linnéa Martinsson, who has collaborated with various electronic acts. She’s most famous for her collaboration with Adrian Lux on mega house anthem ‘Teenage Crime’. This song features her moving, soulful rendition of  the trio’s earlier hit. This one, opposite to the original, is totally stripped down to one of the most moving pieces of music you were to hear.  So very deep and so very pensive, it’s lyrics make you want to let go of a fast paced, stressful life and move on to an easier, calmer and more remote one, just like the trio in the video.  Simultaneously symbolising the intentions of all three producers to leave SHM behind for focusing on their individual careers as producers.

The video compliments the entire mood of the song perfectly. Directed by Adam Berg, it’s beautifully made on ideal locations in Scandinavia. The cinematography is absolutely touching as each and every frame helps you picturise the exact emotion of with which this version was created. The end is even more haunting with Sebastion Ingrosso playing a beautiful yet eerie tune on an old grand piano and Axwell clanking his metal cup while sailing on a boat.

These guys have had an extremely full calendar, basically living their very busy days on planes and hotels. They have now decided to take the next step in their lives and leave that life behind, and it just felt like a very natural connection between our thinking and their plans. And the fact that their first world hit together has the title ‘Leave the world behind’ was just too good to be true,” says Per Carleö. Marketing Manager at Volvo Cars.

All Volvo’s XC cars are designed around people’s wish to get out there and to leave your everyday life behind for a while. So we were thinking of people who really wanted to leave the world behind for a while and came to think of the members of Swedish House Mafia,” says Per Carleö.

Lune is not a regular house act but when I heard it I immediately knew that it was a project that I wanted to get involved in” says Sebastian Ingrosso (Swedish House Mafia), “It’s a project that one shouldn’t try to influence too much – it really has it’s own unique qualities that shouldn’t be tampered with“, he continues.

“Leave The World Behind” was their last collaboration as a trio.  This unique music video was filmed on their home ground in Scandinavia. We at Bangin Beats loved the concept, and the version.  Take a look at it yourself, it’ll definitely make you want to leave the world behind you.
