Kygo is probably the one of the only artists to have popularised Tropical House, a sub-genre of House music, more on the deeper and laidback side, that’s usually characterised by lower bpms, Caribbean style metal percussion mixed with pluck melodies, and any other elements that lend to a ‘a summery vibe and tropical feel’.
Now, this Norwegian musical phenomenon, has just released his very own original Firestone with Conrad on the vocals. Keeping it in tune with his characteristic sounds, the track starts off with a very warm chord progression, and subtle beat-work. Conrad’s vocals kick in, and everything gets stripped down to just the chord accompaniment, making the track even more soothing. It picks up at the chorus, going right back to Kygo’s signature bouncy pluck melody style, all the while being accompanied by the underlying characteristic tropical beat work.
Considering this being his first orignal, Kygo’s done a spectacular job with it. The track is definitely as soothing, laidback and smooth as his remixes, whilst still maintaining an air of bounce and peppiness to it.
