With 2018 finally coming to a monumental close after what stood as one of the finest years for India’s independent music scene in a long time, it only seems right to kick off the new year in an even bigger fashion. And with that in mind, we have one of electronic music’s most established and globally recognized names, the one and only Seth Troxler making his way back to India for a long awaited tour. So without further ado, say hello to our Artist of the Month for January 2019, Seth Troxler who is all set to blow away the Indian audience with his meticulously crafted, yet supremely fun live performances. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the famed act had an early start to his illustrious career as he was exposed to the sounds of house and hip-hop before going on to becoming a DJ. After moving to Detroit, Seth steadily begin to immerse himself within the city’s underground techno movement as he also began to throw down his own parties. Influenced by the sounds of legendary names like Moodymann, Richie Hawtin and Drew Maddox amongst others, electronic music’s very own ‘class clown‘ experienced a rapid rise towards the top, and hasn’t looked back ever since. With early releases on some of the hottest labels on the planet including Circus Company, Crosstown Rebels, Raum…musik, Spectral Sound, Wolf + Lamb and several others, Seth Troxler set the ball rolling initially with his critically acclaimed DJ sets. Having made his debut at the mighty Panorama Bar when he was barely 19, the American DJ/producer has been an unrivaled figure within the electronic music space over the past decade. Known for throwing down the iconic Need I Say More party alongside his Visionquest crew for thirteen long years which came to an end back in 2017, Seth also stepped down from the label in 2014 before going onto set up three new labels namely, Tuskegee along with The Martinez Brothers, Soft Touch and Play It, Say It. After breaking onto the scene early during his career, the Michigan-born act has gone on to become one of electronic music’s most sought after names over the past several years. Having performed all around the globe, Seth continues to take control of the dancefloor at numerous top clubs and some of the most brilliant music festivals including Coachella, Sonar, Movement and many more. After releasing his ‘Love Berzerker‘ EP in 2006 via Beretta Grey, Seth Troxler went on to dish out ‘Rave Loot‘ soon after before dropping his mammoth ‘Valt Trax‘ EP with Patrick Russell on Circus Company. Later in 2008 came his ‘Love Never Sleeps‘ EP via the mighty Crosstown Rebels and his ‘Hot – I Like You Too‘ EP in collaboration with Shaun Reeves. As Seth continued to gather steam as one of the hottest new tastemakers on the block, 2009 turned out to be even bigger as he dropped his ‘Panic, Stop, Repeat!‘ EP before sending seismic waves around the globe with his ‘Aphrika‘ EP on Wolf + Lamb. Next came his collaborative smash, ‘Each Step‘ with Deetron in 2010. As he continued to make his mark, he was also adjudged as the #1 DJ by Resident Advisor as part of their long running annual poll in 2012. In 2014, Seth Troxler reunited with Deetron once again for ‘Love Song‘ before going on to debut his newest label, Tuskegee with the release of ‘Space & Time‘ alongside The Martinez Brothers. Next came yet another collaboration with Art Department in the form of ‘Cruel Intentions‘. 2015 proved to be a humongous year for the man himself on the production front as he churned out one release after another including ‘Rogue Music‘ with Phil Moffa and the massive ‘De Natte Cel‘ with Tom Trago. Having garnered all the success over the years, 2017 saw him team up with Omar S for their ‘Lost & Found’ EP. In 2018, Seth dished out his retrospective ‘This Is Then‘ compilation which arrived as a celebration of his completion of living in Germany for ten years. Additionally, he also reunited with Phil Moffa as Lost Souls Of Saturn later that year to share their debut project, ‘The Awakening – Part 1‘. With more than 150 shows throughout the year, Seth recently brought yet another phenomenal year to a close. As this veteran act continues to make his presence felt on the dancefloor, 2019 promises to be bigger and better for Seth Troxler as he gears up to throw down countless number of shows around the globe.
