Scary Movie 6: Marlon Wayans Confirms Anna Faris and Regina Hall Will Return

Exciting Update: The Return of Iconic Characters

Great news for fans of the Scary Movie franchise: Anna Faris and Regina Hall are confirmed to be making a comeback in the upcoming Scary Movie 6. This announcement is sure to delight fans who have followed the series since its inception.

Marlon Wayans, a foundational member of the Scary Movie series and a writer for the new installment, recently ignited excitement by posting a nostalgic photo on Instagram of Faris and Hall from the original movie. Accompanied by the eyes emoji, he captioned the image with the simple yet evocative “SM6,” signaling the sixth chapter in the series.

The Wayans Brothers Reunite for Scriptwriting

After an 18-year break, Marlon Wayans will join forces with his brother, Damon Wayans, to co-write the script for Scary Movie 6. This project marks a reunion for the duo who played a significant role in the earlier films of the series. They are collaborating with Ricky Alvarez to craft the screenplay.

The Scary Movie saga was originally developed by Marlon alongside his brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans. Keenen Ivory directed the first film released in 2000 and its sequel in 2001. The third and fourth films were directed by David Zucker and penned by a team including Pat Proft, Jim Abrahams, and Craig Mazin, who is also known for his work on Chernobyl. The fifth installment was directed by Malcolm D. Lee with Proft and Zucker as the writers.

With the return of both Hall and Faris, who were pivotal to the franchise’s success thanks to their comedic prowess, there is hope that other familiar faces such as Simon Rex, Chris Elliott, and Anthony Anderson might also appear in the new installment.

New Leadership and Release Date

Scary Movie 6 will be directed by Michael Tiddes, a known collaborator of the Wayans brothers, who previously directed them in the horror spoof films A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2. The much-anticipated sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.

The combination of returning stars and the original creators coming together to pen the script is generating significant buzz and anticipation for what is expected to be a hilarious revival of the beloved series.
