PlayStation Exclusive Ghost of Yotei Gets Official Popcorn Bucket Inspired by a Traditional Japanese Rice Bucket

Extravagant popcorn buckets themed after popular Hollywood movies have become quite the norm. Remember the unique Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket from the previous year where fans could snack right out of Wolverine’s head? In a similar vein, the popcorn bucket shaped like Galactus’ head from The Fantastic Four: First Steps retails for a hefty $80.

The trend has now extended to the video game industry. The PlayStation 5 exclusive, Ghost of Yotei, is not just a game anymore but is stepping into the realm of cinematic experiences with its very own branded popcorn bucket.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has partnered with Sony to celebrate the game’s release by presenting a film series titled Way of the Samurai. This series will feature five seminal samurai movies that have influenced the making of Ghost of Yotei. Alongside this, Alamo Drafthouse is introducing a special Ghost of Yotei-themed menu that includes specially crafted appetizers, desserts, and cocktails that echo the spirit and lore of these classic films.

A highlight for fans is the unique 100-ounce popcorn bucket inspired by traditional Japanese rice buckets. This special edition bucket is available from today, July 17, on AlamoMart.com and will hit theaters from August 2 through September 4.

The exclusive Ghost of Yotei menu will be offered at Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide in conjunction with the Way of the Samurai film screenings.

The featured films are:

  • LADY SNOWBLOOD (1973, dir. Toshiya Fujita) – This revenge-driven narrative has been a major influence on KILL BILL among other films.
  • LONE WOLF AND CUB: SWORD OF VENGEANCE (1972, dir. Kenji Misumi) – Follows the gritty journey of a dishonored samurai and his young son seeking vengeance.
  • THE TALE OF ZATOICHI (1962, dir. Kenji Misumi) – Chronicles the adventures of the iconic blind swordsman in its first chapter.
  • 13 ASSASSINS (2011, dir. Takashi Miike) – A thrilling modern take on classic samurai strategies and sacrifices.
  • RAN (1985, dir. Akira Kurosawa) – A profound epic exploring themes of power, insanity, and deception.

In recent developments, Sony has unveiled more details about Ghost of Yotei in a dedicated State of Play broadcast. The game is set to release on October 2, 2025, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
