Unveiling the Excitement: First Look at Devil May Cry: Season 2
The initial glimpse into the second season of Devil May Cry is now available, captivating fans with its animated adaptation by producer and showrunner Adi Shankar. This iteration dives deeper into the beloved Capcom game series, introducing a significant character from the original games: Dante’s brother, Vergil. This addition promises to enrich the anime-styled world of the series, which is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026. Fans eager for a sneak peek can view the first trailer for the upcoming season.
The debut season of Devil May Cry established a looming conflict between the human world and the demonic forces, culminating with a clear nod to historical events such as the 2003 Second Gulf War. In a recent discussion in June, Shankar revealed how the upcoming season will transform from its predecessor, focusing on Dante’s evolution and increasing prowess throughout the new episodes.
“You’ll witness Dante’s abilities significantly advancing, aligning more with the formidable hero that game fans are familiar with,” Shankar remarked. “However, my priority is to progress the narrative. It’s essential for characters to not only succeed but also develop. Dante’s appeal lies not in his invincibility but in his ability to learn and continually strengthen.”
The latest trailer teases the development of Dante both as a character and as a warrior. With Vergil making an appearance at the season’s conclusion, it appears he will challenge Dante, testing his newly honed abilities. Additionally, the trailer showcased glimpses of Lady, the military unit DARKCOM devastating the demonic realms, and several dynamic action scenes.
For those interested in exploring the video game saga before the release of Devil May Cry Season 2, the first four games are now available on GOG as part of the store’s Game Preservation Program.
“The series truly captures the audacious charm of the video games, enhances the irreverent tone, and contributes significantly to the lore, making Dante’s latest series a compelling introduction,” according to our review of Devil May Cry: Season 1.
