Amazon has launched preorders for a unique 4K Blu-ray version of “The Long Walk.” At a cost of $35, the The Long Walk Limited Edition Steelbook is topping the charts as Amazon’s current bestseller in movies. Given its reasonable price, the movie’s wide acclaim, and its engaging cover art that includes Mark Hamill, fans of Stephen King are encouraged to place their preorders promptly. It’s quite likely that this special Steelbook edition could sell out quickly. Additionally, it might see a price increase soon, as it’s now available for five dollars less than the standard 1080p Blu-ray version.
This dystopian thriller ranks as one of the most critically acclaimed Stephen King film adaptations to date. As of now, “The Long Walk” boasts a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence with a screenplay by JT Mollner and features an all-star cast including Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill.

“The Long Walk” is the third King adaptation released in theaters in 2025, and it’s the first among them to offer a Steelbook Edition. When King disclosed his pseudonym “Bachman” in 1985, “The Long Walk” and three other novels initially published under this name were compiled into a hardcover collection known as The Bachman Books. In 2023, a pricey Limited Edition of “The Long Walk” was released by Centipede Press. Earlier this month, Scribner released a paperback edition tied to the movie, featuring the film’s poster as its cover. Amazon is offering this edition at a reduced price of $14.24 for a limited time.

If you are keen on getting the hardcover edition of “The Long Walk,” you might also be interested in preordering the hardcover edition of The Running Man. This novel, also written under the Bachman pseudonym, is receiving its first standalone hardcover release. “The Running Man’s” hardcover edition will be out on October 14 for $29, and its new film adaptation, starring Glen Powell and directed by Edgar Wright, is set to premiere on November 7. This movie is anticipated to be more faithful to its original material than the 1987 film featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The Long Walk is the first of the 2025 King adaptations to feature a Steelbook Edition, but it might not be the last as “The Running Man” could potentially receive one too. The other two 2025 adaptations, “The Life of Chuck” and “The Monkey,” do not have Steelbook editions. “The Monkey,” a horror-comedy about a cursed toy directed by Osgood Perkins, was released on standard 4K Blu-ray in June and is currently available on Amazon for $19.67 (was $43). “The Life of Chuck,” a fantasy drama directed by Mike Flanagan, sees its 4K Blu-ray edition releasing on September 30 and is also available for preorder at $27.49 (was $40).
Several older King film adaptations have also been released in new 4K Blu-ray editions this year. “The Dead Limited Edition Steelbook” was released in June as an Amazon exclusive; “The Dark Half” was finally restored in 4K in July; and “Creepshow 2” is set to arrive on 4K Blu-ray later this month as a Limited Edition from Arrow Video. The 1990 film “Graveyard Shift” was also released on 4K Blu-ray this year. However, unlike the other mentioned films, “Graveyard Shift” is considered rather poor in quality.
Amazon currently offers numerous exceptional deals on Stephen King movies on 4K Blu-ray, including “The Shining” for just $11.49 and its sequel “Doctor Sleep” for $13. Although there are not many 4K Steelbook Editions still in print, editions such as Stand By Me, Carrie (1976), and Creepshow are available at significant discounts.
