Set after Simba assumes his role as the King of the Pride Lands, this film uniquely focuses on the backstory and ascendancy of Mufasa, narrated by the wise mandrill, Rafiki. Mufasa: The Lion King is available on 4K Blu-ray for $66 or on standard Blu-ray for $41, with the release scheduled for April 1.

Mufasa: The Lion King is being released in a similar fashion to several other Disney projects of late. In the United States, the exclusive 4K offering is available as a Limited Edition Steelbook priced at $66. This follows Disney’s previous limited releases for titles like Inside Out 2 and the upcoming Moana 2, which also features a 4K Limited Edition Steelbook set to launch on March 18 for the same price.
Retailers such as Amazon and Walmart provide a price guarantee on preorders, meaning they won’t charge until the item ships. Additionally, if the price of Mufasa: The Lion King decreases anytime between placing your order and its release, you’ll automatically be charged the reduced price.
Beyond these individual film offerings, a Lion King 3-Movie Collection is also available for preorder. This collection, which also releases on April 1, is priced at $56, but includes the films on DVD, rather than Blu-ray or 4K.
For those looking to acquire all three films, a better option might be to purchase each movie separately, particularly due to the current low prices of the 4K editions of the original animated Lion King and the 2019 live-action version.
