2017 is surely going to be an exceptional year for music! And kicking it off in the right fashion, Gorillaz have announced their highly awaited return with a brand new single. The legendary British band who are set to make up for their six-year deficit with a new album in tow which is slated to be released later this year, their latest effort “Hallelujah Money” is a politically charged collaboration with renowned singer/songwriter Benjamin Clementine.
While their brand new single might leave many fans scratching their hands owing to the stylistic change in sound and overall influence, the track’s lyrics reflect upon a capitalist society. Originally released on the eve of Donald Trump’s inauguration, the band has described the song as a “commentary on a politically-charged, historical moment”.
