Dance music followers have been recently struck with the news of an upcoming collaboration between two of the most talented producers, Flume and Disclosure, which has spread like fire in dry woods. The awaited track has just landed and it’s not an original but a Disclosure remix of Flume‘s “Never Be Like You” featuring Kai on vocal duties. The amazing atmospheric original with sudden bass drops and relaxed vocals has been converted into an after-hours underground track by Disclosure.
Disclosure start building the atmosphere with a lowpass filter sweep over the looped vocals. In the duo’s signature style, the atmospheric pads and sustaining synths are filling up space during the breakdown. The drop features a horn-infused saw synth on the lead and the House bassline, which can be heard exchanging spotlight from time to time. The remix sounds monotonous with the vocals and the synth stabs repeating for a long time without much variation. No efficient use of the vocals from the original, even in the middle breakdown seems a bit disappointing. This deep remix will please the fans but I can hardly think that it would make them dance on the floor for long enough time. After building much anticipation for a collaboration, Flume and Disclosure drop this remix which falls short of that magic which was expected from them. But let’s hope that we’d see that happening very soon.
