Ever wondered what we would get if we combined the most loved band in the world with the best TV show in the world? We get the sensational Coldplay‘s Game Of Thrones : The Musical. You read that right. It’s happening. The British band has collaborated with the fantastic actors in the popular TV series : Game Of Thrones, an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s books for this musical to come to life.
Chris Martin, the lead vocalist for Coldplay, talks about how he thought this was the most creative idea they could have ever come up with and was super stoked to be making this musical. Coldplay has an interesting connection with the series. The drummer for the band, Will Champion has made an appearance in an episode of this very show as a ( wait for it ) drummer! But that’s not all, this musical aims to honour Red Nose Day. For those who don’t know, Red Nose Day is essentially a day when people across the land get together and do something funny for money at home, school and work.
This documentary style musical has it all. The actors have had pretty interesting reactions to the idea. It also has all the actors from the show in regular clothing, which is really not easy to watch considering how unnatural it seems. Not to mention the characters who may or may not ( no spoilers there ) have died on the show already! But the first thing that’s hilarious is Chris Martin accidentally calls the Targaryens the ‘Kardashians’, which is just such a laugh riot in itself. ‘Rastafarian Targaryen’ has such a nice vibe to it and has won over our hearts already. Since no one likes spoilers, go on ahead and watch the video yourself to see whether the enemies from Westeros battle it out or they come together and bury the hatchet over their favourite fried food. We can’t wait for the official soundtrack release and after this video, you will be waiting eagerly too. Until then, All men must SING.
