Well, this is one dispute that’s just escalating out of hand! Hours after Disney filed a lawsuit against Deadmau5 for copyright infringement for the mouse trademark, Deadmau5 retaliated with his own Cease & Desist letter for the illegal use of his iconic dark-house anthem ‘Ghosts n Stuff‘ by Disney. The world renowned Animation Studio has a separate series of short videos called the “Re-MICKS“, one of them which features “Disney Re-Micks: Ghosts n Stuff“. The video is a short video featuring darker tones from the Mickey Mouse universe, as the adorable toons are chased around by..well..Ghosts & Stuff!
It turns out that messing with the Mau5 can only spell more trouble for Disney, as they face an open assault by Joel as he took to Twitter to rant against the Animation studio. Through a series of Tweets, at times, not afraid to divulge in slight profanity, Deadmau5 openly revealed the letter on Twitter. It’s clear that Deadmau5 has been enraged by these allegations, as his Mau5 trademark and logos is something he has sustained throughout his artist career, and sudden complains by Disney only make it unclear, whether this is a case of copyright infringement or a marketing gimmick to attract some publicity. Well, the Mau5 has spoken. Check out the videos & the tweets below.
So now, @disney is illegally using my work… and CONFUSING people that id actualyly work with these twats.

lets test a theory, it takes em 10 years to oppose a trademark, lets see how long it takes em to take down a video. — deadmau5 (@deadmau5) September 4, 2014
I wish disney wasnt such a “corperation”. We could have done great things together.

Meanwhile, Disney chose to remain less-vocal about their views as a spokesperson disclosed to Rolling Stone that the claims made by Deadmau5 regarding the video in question are false, and that they had completed all legalities before using the track on their videos. The spokesperson went onto add that the world renowned Animation Studio would be taking a firm stand on this issue and not back down from the fight either. So, it looks like the legal battle will continue, as both parties seek justice. Here’s what the spokesperson had to say.
Disney vigorously protects its trademark rights, and we oppose Mr. Zimmerman’s attempt to register a logo that is nearly identical to our trademarks for his commercial exploitation..Our opposition is not about the use of the Deadmau5 costume. The music was appropriately licensed, and there is no merit to his statement.
