Ministry Of Sound released its second ‘Inspired’ compilation composed by none other than the irrepressible NERVO twins as a follow-up to Tommy Trash’s compilation for the same.
The Australian DJ duo established their credentials from the scratch writing hit records for the favourite artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Ke$ha and kylie Minogue, as well as written David Guetta & Kelly Rowland’s Grammy award-winning single ‘when love takes over’. NERVO’s career has skyrocketed since then, standing today as one of the most looked forward to dance music acts in the world. The two sisters have performed consistently on main stages at the world’s biggest music festivals, holding down residencies at Hakkasan Las Vegas and Ushuaia in Ibiza.
The young duo has already enjoyed billboard and Beatport #1 hits, for their tracks including ‘Like Home’ alongside Nicky Romero, ‘Hold On’ and the recent hit that has been seeing the top of the charts ever since it released. To celebrate this high point in their career, NERVO compiled this full length outing for MoS.
This compilation series provides the artists a platform to tell their story through records, highlighting those from which they drew inspiration the most during their career. We thus get to have a close look at NERVO’s journey through their mix and the artists that influenced their success. “We have always followed Ministry Of Sound as a label so, when they came to us with the INSPIRED concept we jumped at the opportunity” say the duo. “Whether they were new artists that we discovered at the time or whether we discovered these tracks while dancing on the Space Terrace in Ibiza, all of these records hold a special place in our journey.”
Released on May 19, their ‘inspired’ piece spreads over two CDs, with the first one covering ”Present and Future Inspirations’ and the second ‘Past Inspirations’. Just like the duo’s vibrant and colorful personality the mix is a an assortment of diverse, peculiar tracks. “Michael Gray’s ‘Weekend’ takes us back to our first summers in Ibiza”, NERVO reflect. “We were living in London at the time, trying to get ahead in music and waitressing. Records like this were an escape from our everyday lives. If we can provide that same kind of escape in our music today then that would be a great achievement.”
Ranging from classic club tracks like ‘praise you’ by Fat Boy Slim and ‘Your Love’ by the late Frankie Knuckles, to those by modern-day heavy hitters like Steve Aoki, Hardwell and showtek, one can see that the twins find deep-rooted inspiration in genuine dance music culture, along with keeping up with the times.
The duo also made a brand new track for Inspired as proposed to them by Ministry Of Sound, called ‘Sunshine Thru Rain Clouds’ featuring Duane Harden, Joining the dots between classic dance floor sounds and an innovative new concept. it represents an exciting new chapter for NERVO and continues Ministry Of Sound’s reputation for keeping their ear firmly to the ground.
