Ever since Major Lazer stepped into the EDM scene, the induction of dancehall in the electronic music world has begun. Albeit weird, it still works nonetheless. This time, Major Lazer (Diplo, for those unaware) and Grandtheft have taken Trinidad & Tobago’s native soca style and changed a major portion of Machel Montano‘s The Fog, dropping some electro, massive kicks and a ear-splitting pound of a bassline. Machel Montano’s voice extremely well placed at key moments, is an outstanding addition. Pleasantly light and yet maintaining the aggressive feel trademark to Major Lazer, this tune is extremely weird. Funnily enough, we’re still grooving to this one! This one is as fresh as it gets.
