Sony Pictures recently unveiled the trailer for their new romantic movie titled “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” featuring lead performances by Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.
This romance-fantasy movie, crafted by director Kogonada, spins an enchanting narrative about two individuals who cross paths unexpectedly, according to the film’s official description. Alongside Robbie and Farrell, the film boasts a talented ensemble including Jodie Turner-Smith, Lily Rabe, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Hamish Linklater.
Kogonada, who has previously directed the sci-fi family drama “After Yang” featuring Farrell and Turner-Smith, as well as the 2017 movie “Columbus,” also took the helm for the Apple TV+ series “Pachinko.” The screenplay for this new film was penned by Seth Reiss, known for his work on “The Menu.”
In an interview with Collider, Farrell described the film as a unique type of love story infused with elements of magical realism. He explained that while the setting is quite familiar, it branches into the realm of fantasy, taking audiences on a whimsical journey.
Farrell further elaborated that the film explores themes of revisiting pivotal moments from the past that have significantly shaped the characters’ lives.
The project’s executive production team includes Ori Eisen, Gino Falsetto, Ilene Feldman, Kogonada, and Paul Mezey. The production team is led by Dan Friedkin, Ryan Friedkin, Youree Henley, Seth Reiss, and Bradley Thomas, with Noah Simon on board as an associate producer.
“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” is notable as Robbie’s first acting project following her role in the 2023 blockbuster “Barbie.” Since then, she has been active behind the scenes, producing works like Emerald Fennell’s “Saltburn,” Megan Park’s “My Old Ass,” and Jimmy Warden’s 2025 thriller “Borderline.” Robbie is set to collaborate again with Fennell on a new adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” scheduled for 2026, which will also star Jacob Elordi from “Euphoria.” Meanwhile, Farrell recently received a SAG Award for his portrayal of Oz Cobb in the HBO series “The Penguin.”
