The new series from Peacock, The Paper, a spinoff of The Office, is set to premiere on September 4, 2025.
Set in Ohio and existing within the same fictional universe as the beloved series led by Steve Carell, The Paper will debut with four episodes available on Peacock starting this September. Following the initial release, the series will continue to drop two new episodes every Thursday until September 25.
The Paper focuses on an ailing newspaper in the Midwest known as the Toledo Truth Teller. This narrative is explored through the lens of the same documentary crew that brought the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin to life in The Office. While iconic characters like Michael Scott (portrayed by Carell), Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), and Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) will not appear in the new series, The Paper boasts a promising cast that will likely draw in audiences.
Among the notable cast members are Domhnall Gleeson (known from Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens), Sabrina Impacciatore (famed for her role in The White Lotus), Chelsea Frei (from The Moodys), among others. While specific details about many of the characters and their roles within the Toledo Truth Teller remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that Oscar Nuñez, who played Oscar Martinez on The Office, will be making a return.
Greg Daniels, a revered figure from The Office, is also returning to work on this Peacock spinoff as the creator, executive producer, and writer through his Deedle-Dee Productions banner, in collaboration with Michael Koman of Nathan For You fame. Daniels will also direct, alongside other directors such as Ken Kwapis, Yana Gorskaya, Paul Lieberstein, Tazbah Chavez, Jason Woliner, Jennifer Celotta, Matt Sohn, Dave Rogers, and Jeff Blitz.
The first four episodes of The Paper will be available on Peacock starting September 4. As we anticipate the release of an official trailer, more insights can be gathered from Steve Carell’s perspectives on the spinoff and his decision not to be directly involved.
