Daft Punk win Wall Street Journal’s, ‘Innovator Award’ only to go unnoticed sans disguises at the after party!
It’s been a year full of success & accolades for Daft Punk and the reputed Wall Street Journal magazine seems to agree as it awarded the iconic French duo with its annual ‘Entertainment Innovator Award’.
Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo were handed the award by their ‘Get Lucky’ collaborator Pharrell Williams and Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, with Gisele even appearing on the cover of WSJ magazine’s innovator issue with the pair.
Their album, ‘Random Access Memories‘ released this year, was their first full-length effort since 2005 and saw them collaborate with some noteworthy names including Pharrell, Nile Rodgers, Todd Edwards and Giorgio Moroder, reaching platinum status in six different countries and becoming Amazon UK’s best-selling vinyl ever. The album’s lead single ‘Get Lucky’ also sold close to three million copies in the United States and over one million in the UK.
Another interesting news which has emerged is that after receiving their awards, the twosome slipped out of their disguises and went unnoticed at the after-party. Now that implies that the Daft Punk “hiding their image” thing has either worked super brilliantly ever since the late 1990s. In any case, this might make the more shy artists want to start donning masks to when they desire to.

Today dawned on us as truly a great day for any fan of trance. After winning the ‘Top 100 DJ’s Legend Award’, Tiësto has thanked his fans by releasing a brand new track titled ‘iTrance’ in collaboration with Disco Fries.
The legend said, “I am humbled and so honored to receive the inaugural DJ Mag ‘Top 100 DJ’s Legend Award’. I am extremely grateful for all of my fans and their continued support over the years. As a thank you, I want to share a brand new track called ‘iTrance’ with you”.
The track is pretty different from the progressive house and electro tracks which we have come to associate with his name over the last couple of years. It instead features beautifully complex melody lines, soaring into a thrilling yet minimalistic break. The superstar DJ/Producer has channelized himself back towards his roots in stadium sized melodic trance, and combining them with a new age twist in its synth, percussion and tempo arrangement.
Adding to the excitement, the maestro has hinted at more of the same to come saying, “So many more exciting things to come! I can’t wait to share it with all of you!”
