Deadmau5 partners with Astralwerks Records; set to release ‘We Are Friends Vol. 2′ on new label.
Deadmau5 has now gone ahead and joined hands with Astralwerks Records for a strategic partnership. Astralwerks Records will now become a US home for all of the producer’s artist releases and Deadmau5 will be added to Astralwerks’ roster, as well as them being the exclusive distributor of his music and label partner for Mau5trap Recordings. Deadmau5 expressed his excitement about all this as : “So, it’s now official… Yep, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Astralwerks! It’s done, and this shit is happening! Big plans are in motion people. BIG.”. The agreement involves Deadmau5 retaining creative control over his Mau5trap artists and the label still functioning as a separate entity to Astralwerks from Astralwerks’ Toronto offices. Mat Zo feat. Chuck D– Pyramid Scheme (Original Mix) [Preview]
Mat Zo is a lucky man. The British producer (who now lives in Los Angeles) had been working on “Pyramid Scheme” for almost two years, switching up the hard-hitting electro track in big ways and shaping it over multiple stages – including sampling Public Enemy’s “Can I Get a Witness,” for which clearing the rights was a prolonged process. But Public Enemy’s Chuck D stepped in himself, and instead of just securing the rights, Zo suddenly found one of his heroes recording vocals on his track.
“I’m a massive hip-hop fan, so this was a big moment for me. I’d always wanted to work with a great hip-hop artist, and Chuck D is definitely one of the greatest,” Zo tells Rolling Stone. “A lot of other MCs got jaded and starting doing commercial crap about getting wasted on bottle service at some ritzy Vegas club, while Chuck D is one of the few who stuck to their principles.”
“Pyramid Scheme” will be out August 13th on Astralwerks/Anjunabeats.

Dirty South & Alesso – City of Dreams (Showtek Remix)
‘City of Dreams’ is one of Dirty South and Alesso’s most well-known progressive house anthems and now, Showtek release their electro rendition of the same. While not necessarily one of their usual hardstyle bangers, Showtek’s remix of ‘City of Dreams’ follows their recent trend of exploration into progressive and electro house territory. In this remix, Showtek brilliantly uses the original melody in their own way over the smooth vocals from Ruben Haze and infuses it with their signature electro sounds at the drop turning it into a mega-festival banger. Out now on Beatport via the Astralwerks label. Listen to it below -
