Mat Zo feat. Chuck D– Pyramid Scheme (Original Mix)

Is there anything Mat Zo can’t do? Strictly rhetoric, of course. This British sensation has the respect of an entire field of electronic music, and deservedly so. A man who can dabble in every genre, and produce sounds like a veteran, at such a young age, Mat Zo is indeed a class apart from the rest. Taking August by storm, and after producing a classy remix of Ellie Goulding’s Burn, he’s collaborated with the legendary Chuck D, of Public Enemy to release his latest tune called Pyramid Scheme. Eccentric electronica is Mat Zo’s forte, and we’re smitten. Perfect chord progressions with an uplifting sample of ‘Rock The Funky Beat‘ right before the drop, is pure gold. First premiered at TATW450 in Bangalore, India, Mat Zo has worked on this track hard and long to come up with this finished product that blends elements of electro-house, hip-hop and big room progressive in Zo’s unique, dancefloor destroying style. Released via Anjunabeats, grab your copy here, and download below!

Mat Zo is a lucky man. The British producer (who now lives in Los Angeles) had been working on “Pyramid Scheme” for almost two years, switching up the hard-hitting electro track in big ways and shaping it over multiple stages – including sampling Public Enemy’s “Can I Get a Witness,” for which clearing the rights was a prolonged process. But Public Enemy’s Chuck D stepped in himself, and instead of just securing the rights, Zo suddenly found one of his heroes recording vocals on his track.

“I’m a massive hip-hop fan, so this was a big moment for me. I’d always wanted to work with a great hip-hop artist, and Chuck D is definitely one of the greatest,” Zo tells Rolling Stone. “A lot of other MCs got jaded and starting doing commercial crap about getting wasted on bottle service at some ritzy Vegas club, while Chuck D is one of the few who stuck to their principles.”

“Pyramid Scheme” will be out August 13th on Astralwerks/Anjunabeats.
