Shout Factory, which is known for handling several Ghibli animations, has recently launched both a Limited Edition Steelbook and a standard edition Blu-ray on July 8. Grave of the Fireflies is among the numerous Studio Ghibli films offered in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack that includes a collectible steelbook case. Several of these Steelbook Editions are now on sale for less than $20.

Unlike most Studio Ghibli productions that delve into fantasy and environmental themes, Grave of the Fireflies stands out as it draws from the real-life experiences of World War II survivor Akiyuka Nosaka. The story revolves around Seita, a 14-year-old boy, and his four-year-old sister Setsuko, who are war orphans facing extreme challenges such as food shortages, abusive relatives, and frequent bombings in the Japanese countryside during the war.
