Stars of the Lid to Reissue Debut Album for 30th Anniversary

Adam Wiltzie has unveiled plans to rerelease Stars of the Lid’s debut album, Music for Nitrous Oxide, in recognition of its 30th anniversary. This special edition is scheduled for release on July 25 through Wiltzie’s label, Artificial Pinearch Manufacturing. Additionally, a video for a shortened version of the track “Adamord” from the album has been released.

The remastering of Music for Nitrous Oxide was handled by sound engineer Francesco Donadello. This upcoming release will be notable as the album’s first appearance on vinyl; its original release was on CD in 1995, with a subsequent CD reissue in 2008.

The Music for Nitrous Oxide (30 Year Anniversary Remastered) marks the first significant release by Stars of the Lid following the passing of co-founder Brian McBride in 2023. “Following Brian’s passing nearly two years ago, I felt compelled to go back and shine a light on this nearly forgotten part of Stars of the Lid’s history,” Wiltzie commented.

For those interested in further exploring the band’s history and impact, Philip Sherburne’s column titled “Remembering Stars of the Lid’s Brian McBride With 10 Essential Records,” is available for reading.
