The band PUP has just revealed their upcoming album, created in collaboration with producer John Congleton. Titled Who Will Look After the Dogs?, this release marks the Toronto-based group’s fifth studio album and serves as a sequel to their 2022 album, The Unraveling of PUPTheBand. The album features a total of 12 songs, including the previously released “Paranoid” and a newly unveiled track, “Hallways.” You can view the music video for “Hallways” below.
Set for release on May 2, Who Will Look After the Dogs? comes with some personal insights from PUP’s lead vocalist, Stefan Babcock. In a recent press release, Babcock shared, “Just days after we released our previous album, which ironically was named The Unraveling of PUPTheBand, my personal life took a sudden, unexpected downturn. During that chaotic time, I penned the lyrics for ‘Hallways.’ It was an incredibly strange week.” He added, “The title of our new album, Who Will Look After the Dogs?, was actually the first line I wrote down for this project. It’s a heart-wrenching phrase, but it’s kind of melodramatic when you consider the line that precedes it. To us, that’s what adds a touch of humor. The over-the-top things we say when we’re at our lowest can seem quite comical once things settle down. I’m not sure if it’s funny to everyone, but sometimes laughing at yourself is the only way to climb out of a dark place. Believe me.”
