The much-anticipated music and film festival, Future Ruins, organized under the supervision of the Oscar-winning duo from Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, was abruptly canceled on Friday. It was originally set for November 8th.
Planned to be held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, the lineup boasted notable figures from the world of film music including John Carpenter, Questlove (who was to perform Curtis Mayfield’s compositions), Danny Elfman, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Hildur Guðnadóttir, promising a dynamic schedule of performances.
“The event will not proceed this year,” stated the festival’s organizers. “Faced with numerous logistical issues and difficulties, we believe we are unable to deliver the quality and experience originally envisioned for Future Ruins. Instead of settling for less, we have decided to pause and reassess our approach. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and are grateful for the enthusiasm and support we have received.”

“The festival is all about offering these top-tier composers a unique platform to convey new narratives in an engaging live environment,” Reznor explained during the first announcement.
Spanning three stages, the festival aimed to treat every artist as a headliner, giving each one a specially tailored moment to shine. Artists were encouraged to take creative risks and adapt their compositions specifically for the live audience,” the announcement highlighted.
