Warner Bros. has just unveiled a fresh clip from A Minecraft Movie, notably missing the usual elements of building, crafting, or pickaxes. Instead, the clip introduces a romantic twist involving an unexpected couple. Jennifer Coolidge, known for her role in White Lotus, is featured in a sophisticated dining setting on a date with a CGI Villager.
The newly released teaser for A Minecraft Movie, aptly named Be Mine, was posted on YouTube and highlights a comical dinner scene centered around Coolidge’s character. She humorously opens up about her recent divorce. “I recently got divorced from my husband, Clemente, because basically, he had no personality,” she explains. “Unlike you.” The scene shifts to reveal her date, a Villager, whose animated unibrow wiggles in response.
The humor doesn’t stop there in this 30-second clip. Towards the end, a waitress comes by to check if they are done, to which Coolidge’s character quips: “I think he’s Swedish.” This joke layers in a nod to Minecraft’s origins, as the game was developed by Swedish creator Markus “Notch” Persson and the development company Mojang is located in Sweden.
Earlier in February, another trailer gave us our first look at the movie’s antagonist, a Piglin from the Nether named Malgosha. It also provided an initial peek at Coolidge’s character where she is seen accidentally hitting a Villager with her car, setting the stage for their unconventional romance.

The cast of A Minecraft Movie includes Jason Mamoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Hansen, and Jack Black, who, interestingly, was not initially set to play the character Steve. Jack Black also shared his most-played game this month, which turns out to be neither Minecraft nor any of the Super Mario Bros. games.
A Minecraft Movie is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on April 4.
