Madden Movie Circling Even More Big Names, Including John Mulaney As Key EA Executive

A forthcoming film celebrating the life of football icon John Madden, whose name lives on in EA’s famous video game series, is currently under development. Nicolas Cage, an Academy Award winner, is set to star as Madden. According to Deadline, actors John Mulaney, Kathryn Hahn, and Sienna Miller are also in discussions to join the cast.

Cast and Characters

John Mulaney is expected to portray Trip Hawkins, the founder of EA, who played a crucial role in developing the Madden series into the powerhouse it is today. Kathryn Hahn is likely to take on the role of Virginia, Madden’s spouse, while Sienna Miller is being considered for the part of Carol Davis, the wife of the late Raiders owner Al Davis. Christian Bale, another Oscar laureate, has already been confirmed to play Al Davis himself.

Production Team

The movie will be directed by David O. Russell, who has received Oscar nominations for his work in the past. Russell is also responsible for the screenplay. The project is being produced for Amazon MGM Studios and is expected to premiere on Prime Video.

Production is slated to begin in May in Atlanta, although a release date has yet to be set.

John Madden’s Legacy

John Madden’s coaching career in the NFL was relatively brief but notable, spanning from 1969 to 1978 with the Raiders. During his tenure, he led the team to seven division titles and a Super Bowl victory. After retiring from coaching, Madden became the NFL’s most celebrated broadcaster and played a pivotal role in the creation of the Madden NFL video game series. The franchise remains popular even following his death in 2021.

The next installment of the Madden video game series is anticipated to launch in August. While specific details about the game are scarce, it is known to include some promotional elements from Lowe’s.
