Alex Garland is considering collaborating again with Kit Connor, who starred in “Warfare,” for his upcoming movie project, an adaptation of the popular video game “Elden Ring,” which will be a joint production by A24 and Bandai Namco.
According to sources cited by The Bangin Beats, Garland might cast Connor in a leading role for the movie, though no official offer has been extended yet.
Recently, it was confirmed that Garland would take the helm to write and direct this live-action adaptation of the action RPG, inspired by a mythological narrative crafted by George R. R. Martin. Martin is well-known for his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, which served as the foundation for the “Game of Thrones” series on HBO. The “Elden Ring” film will be produced by Peter Rice, along with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, and also includes Martin and Vince Gerardis in the production team.
“Elden Ring” is set in a dark, fantastical world filled with vast landscapes and menacing dungeons. The game was developed by FromSoftware, guided by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Since its release in February 2022, the game has sold over 30 million copies globally and has garnered several awards at the 2022 Game Awards, including game of the year, best game direction, and best role-playing game. Additionally, a spinoff titled “Elden Ring Nightreign” is set to launch on May 30, and later this year, “Elden Ring Tarnished Edition,” a comprehensive version, will be available for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Kit Connor, a rising British talent, has been active in the film and TV industry since he was eight years old. He gained significant attention for his role as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s “Heartstopper,” opposite Joe Locke’s Charlie Spring. The series, after three highly successful seasons on Netflix, will end with a film that starts production this summer. Connor and Locke will also serve as executive producers on this project. Connor’s most recent work includes starring in the A24 film “Warfare,” a raw war movie co-directed by Garland and former Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza, which is based on true events experienced by Mendoza’s platoon. Connor is currently represented by Independent Talent Group and WME.
The potential casting of Connor was initially reported by Deadline, and A24 did not provide any comments on the matter.
