Exciting Reveal: EPCOT’s Test Track Reopening Date Set, New Features Unveiled at Disney World!

Disney has revealed that the revamped EPCOT’s Test Track, sponsored by General Motors at Walt Disney World Resort, is set to reopen on July 22, 2025.

According to updates from the Disney Parks Blog, the revamped attraction will feature a brand-new musical soundtrack and “new scenarios that showcase the technological advancements in automobiles that enhance our driving experience and make everyday life more enjoyable.”

A highlight of the updated attraction includes a scene that demonstrates how modern vehicles utilize sophisticated cameras and sensors to ‘see’ their surroundings. This scene aims to illustrate the capabilities of autonomous vehicles and the role of LiDAR technology in ensuring safety.

Moving from a conceptual to a more realistic setting, the new version of Test Track will transport guests through environments that mimic the scenic Pacific Northwest.

Nathaniel Gearhart from Walt Disney Imagineering expressed, “In our redesigned Test Track, we aim to capture the joy of driving and the experiences of scenic journeys with loved ones, which are often cherished memories.”

To enhance the authenticity of the setting, the redesign includes specific types of trees such as Cedar, Spruce, Maple, and Oak. These trees not only represent the region but are also arranged to create a canopy overhead, simulating the natural landscape.

Since its initial launch in 1999 as Test Track 1.0 and its subsequent update in 2012 to Test Track 2.0, the attraction is now gearing up to introduce its third iteration, Test Track 3.0, in 2025 following renovations starting June 17, 2024.
