During Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event, shoppers can grab 4K Blu-ray versions of “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogy box sets at significant discounts. Each set includes both the theatrical releases and the extended versions of the films directed by Peter Jackson. The price of “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy has been slashed to $50 from its original $90 and is also part of a special Buy Two, Get One Free offer on Blu-rays. However, “The Hobbit” Trilogy in 4K, reduced to $34.49 from $90, does not participate in the Buy Two, Get One Free deal.
Amazon is also offering the standard Blu-ray versions of both trilogies at reduced prices, which are eligible for the Buy Two, Get One Free promotion. Additionally, the Middle-earth 6-Film Theatrical Collection on Blu-ray is a steal at only $25 during this sales event. Another standout deal is the “The War of the Rohirrim” anime on Blu-ray, available for just $12.

A drawback of these 4K trilogy box sets is that they are not accompanied by digital or standard 1080p Blu-ray versions. Additionally, you won’t get the extended edition commentary tracks that are available on the standard Blu-rays. Nevertheless, these discounted prices present a significant saving compared to the $137.33 launch price of the Middle-earth 6-Film Collection earlier in the year.
