Double Fine Unveils New Game Following Success of Psychonauts 2
After the release of Psychonauts 2, Double Fine Productions has been busy developing an intriguing new title, which was introduced at the recent Xbox Games Showcase. The game, titled “Keeper,” features a unique protagonist: a sentient lighthouse with legs, guided by a comical bird.
Gameplay and Concept of Keeper
The reveal showcased an amusing sequence where a bird descends upon a lighthouse which suddenly grows thin, spindly legs and starts to stride across diverse terrains. The exact motives and mechanics behind the lighthouse’s ability to move and its partnership with the bird remain mysterious. However, the setting suggests a whimsical, otherworldly landscape typical of Double Fine’s imaginative style.
Given Double Fine’s history of creating distinctive and engaging games, expectations for Keeper are understandably high. Psychonauts 2, the studio’s prior release, was highly praised and received a score of 8/10 from our review team. The reviewers were particularly impressed by the game’s “weird and wonderfully written story” and the “interesting, nuanced characters” which players found easy to adore. Furthermore, they commended Double Fine for skillfully enhancing the game’s universe with both expansive and personal challenges, all the while maintaining the delightful spirit of youthful adventure found in the original game.
Release Details
Keeper is scheduled to be available on October 17 and will be released across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
