The 28th D.I.C.E. Awards Showcase Video Game Excellence
The 28th edition of the D.I.C.E. Awards has concluded, celebrating the pinnacle of video game achievements in 2024. The ceremony saw numerous games receiving accolades across 23 varied categories. Astro Bot emerged as the star of the evening, clinching the prestigious Game of the Year award. In addition, it secured wins in categories including Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Family Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Design.
Several other titles also garnered multiple awards. Helldivers 2 distinguished itself by winning four awards: Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Action Game of the Year, and Online Game of the Year. Both Balatro and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also impressed, each taking home three awards.
Recognition for Industry Icons
This year’s ceremony was also significant for the special recognition of two influential figures in the gaming industry. The former Executive Vice President of Operations for Nintendo of America was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. His notable contributions during his tenure at Nintendo and his involvement with the Starlight Children’s Foundation were highlighted during the ceremony.
Additionally, the founder and president of Insomniac Games, Ted Price, who recently announced his retirement, was inducted into the Hall of Fame. His three-decade leadership at Insomniac Games and his advocacy for the rights of video game creators were celebrated.
